Floral

Nature and flowers are all around us (maybe less for the ones who live in cities), but still you’ll have the corner stores that are selling flowers (or then again one could always buy fake?). But, regardless it’s there. It’s so funny to me that people will have their favorite flower, favorite tree, or whatever it may be. Where I and been like “oh yeah those three flowers are cute.” As I got older and especially when I started to look at something and instantly have an inspiration idea or direction for a collection as a whole or some detail work. I found myself to become more appreciative of flowers and the different qualities they each possess.

It’s so neat that a flower even if it’s from the same family could have different needs to help it live. Almost similar to when one is choosing fabric and closures that would best fit a certain look. Another good design quality flowers have given me on a design perspective, is the endless amounts of inspiration and ideas one can gain. You’ll have endless color choices, weight of fabric; wanting a flowing loose look similar to an Iris or a heavy tighter fabric similar to a rose, or even texture ideas all by looking at flowers.

It’s amazing that something that we grow and produce can bring inspiration the way it does. Also in a way, the process a flower takes to grow and become what it’s meant to be just from a little seed is similar to designing I think. Because each step you take within your design process (seed to a bud) is just to get you to your ending goal of a creation (beautiful flower).
