New York

New York is home to many different type of people all coming from different walks of life carrying different dreams and goals. For so long I would dream of moving to New York, working, shopping, and living my best 20 year old life. When it actually came time to move to this city I was surprised by my slight feeling of anxiousness, I had been 743.1 miles away from home during my four years of college, traveled abroad twice, and even visited New York numerous times before “I was like I got this New York”. Actually moving to the city instead of just being here on a vacation or trip is completely different than living here.

Most cities are nouns. New York’s a verb

It sounds so silly to say but this city has been a huge inspiration of mine. I remember when I first coming to visit I wanted to have a style that was going to match the people here, I mean even in Stuck in the Suburbs they made such a big deal over the sandals Brittany got from New York! So younger me in design school was like “I wanna make something that people would cool wearing in New York!” To me the key to the city style is all about versatility! Everyone’s life here is so insanely busy, one doesn’t have time to go home and change pants or grab another top for drinks after work. So having the ability to just wear one look all day long is a must, which is my biggest design aesthetic and inspiration. Centering all designs around the “New York aesthetic” then bringing in other inspirations and elements is what drives my designs.

Even with all the headaches you cause me New York I still love you!
