Tranquility
Tranquility and calmness can be found in many different situations and isn’t the same person to person. For me it comes in music, good coffee, being at the beach, warm weather, and reading a good book. When it comes to design and a tranquil state, that wasn’t something that came right away or easily. Having an outlet like design and fashion is one I’ll never take for granted knowing how I started out. It’s so amazing to continue to watch myself grow, get better, and come up with ideas that are so different than when I was first starting out is what I love.
Instead of having a mood or inspiration that I try to translate into my designs, this one is a little different where I’m not trying to show it in my work. But the feeling that comes to me when I’m creating. In school when I realized I wanted to add design to my major, it was such a strange time and feeling for me. Of course, I had always been interested in design and how it works to successfully create a garment, to even knowing what would be the best fabric. I was given the opportunity to shadow the seniors during their final collection and getting paired with someone that had a similar background to me, of having little design experience really is what made me feel confident. Never would I think that designing would make me feel relaxed.
I’ll never forget all the stress that came from my first project and sewing class.
